Recently a new rap challenge has gone viral called the 12345678 challenge and as the name implies… It’s challenging, but don’t worry because by the end of this video you’re going to be able to nail it!
My name is Cole Mize and I’ve been helping rappers perfect their rap skills on this channel for the past 10 years.
Now the science behind this challenge is simple. We fill in each bar with 8th notes with the numbers 1-8 and since the word seven is two syllables it will be two 16th notes which occupies the same space as one 8th note.
We’re going to start off by filling in an entire bar and then we’ll remove a number for every bar we rap after that until we’re left with only the number 8.
We’ll then repeat the number 8 for one more bar and then we’ll begin to count backwards adding a number for each bar until we’ve filled the bar back in.
First we’ll listen to the whole thing and feel free to rap along with me.
Then we’re going to play follow the leader as we do this challenge. I’m going to rap one bar and then you will repeat the bar I just rapped. Feel free to rap along with me as well.
Then lastly we’ll see if you’re able to complete the challenge by yourself. Please begin after the 4 count is complete.
