Today I would like to share with you a tool that I believe is going to be a game-changer for rappers!
This “tool” is called RhymeWave and it’s by far, the best rhyming dictionary I’ve ever seen for rappers.
What’s A Rhyming Dictionary?
If you’re unfamiliar with what a rhyming dictionary is, it’s basically a tool that allows you to input a word and it will give you a list of words that rhyme with it. This helps you speed up the rhyming process and can potentially save you if you’re unable to think of any words that rhyme.
In my opinion, throughout the past 40+ years, rappers have taken rhyming to a whole new level and rhyming dictionaries never kept up!
Well.. at least not until now!
RhymeWave takes a new forward-thinking approach by allowing you to search for rhymes in several different ways.
It has a search function that allows you to not only search for words that rhyme with a single word but you can also search for phrases or multiple words at once.
SEARCH BY SINGLE AND MULTIPLE WORDS
For example, I could search for “Help Me” and it will spit back at me “deli, wealthy, jelly”, etc..
Not only that but it will go a step further and suggest three, four, and five-syllable possibilities!
For example, “helplessly, spelling bee, elbow grease” (3 syllables), “celibacy, skeleton key, led to believe (4 syllables), and “Thelma and Louise, consecutively, end up on the street” (5 syllables). I’ve even seen it spit back as much as 7 syllable suggestions!
This function alone blows all the other rhyming dictionaries out of the water! But wait! We’re just getting started! lol!
SEARCH BY PHONEMES
At the top of RhymeWave, there are 18 different colored boxes with different pictures that represent all of the Phonemes in the English language.
Phonemes are all the different units of sounds that are made with our mouths to speak.
So for example, if I hover over the ghost picture and click on the “A” then my “A column” will be populated with words that have the same “Oh” sound as “ghost”.
I can also hover over another Phoneme such as “cat” and click “B” and it will now populate my “B column” with words that have an “Ah” sound.
RhymeWave will then also suggest to me multi-syllable words or combinations of words that will rhyme with my A and B Phonemes! How friggin cool is that!?!?!?
You will also notice the different phonemes that make up each word or phrase are represented by their corresponding colors on the far right of each column.
For example, if I were to search for “passionate” you will notice that my “A column” is now populated with red dots that represent the “cat sounds” and my “B column” is populated with purple dots that represent the “earth sounds”. And I’m also being recommended even more possibilities with this combination of phonemes on the other columns as well! This is super duper helpful!
I SEE THE LIGHT!
And I’ll tell you one more thing I love about Rhymewave! There’s a lightbulb at the top right-hand corner of the screen which allows you to toggle between RhymeWaves default “dark mode” and it’s alternate “light mode”
It’s a small thing I guess but I think that function is really dope!
MEET THE CREATOR OF RHYMEWAVE
RhymeWave has been a labor of love for its creator Jon Clark, over the past 20+ years and counting!
Jon has been blessed throughout this multi-decade journey with an amazingly talented team of programmers in Tom Heath, James Burt and Rob Dawson who’ve been obsessively dedicated to making RhymeWave the beautiful, clean, and most powerful rhyming dictionary ever created!
If you’re interested in learning more about the journey of how RhymeWave came to be as well as witness Jon and I get really nerdy and deep about our philosophies surrounding rapping and creativity in general, then be sure to watch the embedded video! I think you will really enjoy it!
I’ll paste RhymeWaves links below as well as links to where you can check out some of Jon’s music. And if you enjoy RhymeWave please stop by and show him some love!
